Child drawing on board.

New in Rosemary Hall

We started Term 3 with much excitement wherein we welcomed several new friends as well as began our exploration on interesting and relevant concepts such as the weather, light, shadows etc. We introduced several new resources and materials into our centre. Our dramatic and pretend play corner, our science and exploration corner and creative reuse centre to support the arts programme further enhances the holistic programme we offer children. The range of natural, unique and interesting materials that our children can access at all times encourages children to develop resourcefulness, creative and abstract thinking skills as well as a sense of responsibility towards materials and the skills and knowledge to reuse and recycle them in creative and innovative ways.

We are also continuing the Parent Accompanied Playgroup on Wednesday/Thursday afternoons. This will run from 2.30PM-4.30PM. It is a way for parents to evaluate our programme, familiarise themselves with the Montessori Methodology as well as ease their children into our environment in a safe and secure way.We accept one adult per child. There is a nominal fee of $45 for each class.

Our activities will include presentation of the use of basic Montessori Work in Practical Life and Sensorial materials, followed by one-on-one interactions with the materials.

Montessori Practical Life and Sensorial Work materials are some of the most tested and well developed aspects of Dr Maria Montessori's world renown research into childhood pedagogy.

Practical Life Exercises aid the growth and development of the childs intellect and concentration and will in turn also help the child develop an orderly way of thinking- materials used include dressing frames, pouring exercises, and pegging.

Hadi - 18months - Knobbed Cylinders (Sensorial Work)

In Sensorial work, the child is given the keys to classifying the things around him, which is the basis for a clear, conscious and structured understanding of the world around. Some of these materials include the knobbed cylinders, brown stairs and the pink tower.
